Professional Review

As its name suggests, Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 is a game where your main goal is to repair multiple cars, tune and upgrade them. The game will be interesting for hardcore fans of the genre, especially taking into account its excellent graphics and thoughtful approach you need to take.

Graphics — 5/5

The graphics are just great and very detailed. As you play in the first-person view, you can’t see your character, yet in the opening, he moves pretty realistically. The opening has little in common with the actual gameplay, but the visuals are still impressive.

The car pieces are quite easy to distinguish which is a big plus. Moreover, they are highlighted so that you understand which one you’re using at the moment.

Gameplay — 4/5

The game is all about fixing cars so be ready to spend several hours on the unhasting work. Unhasting – because there are plenty of car details that you should thoughtfully sort, replace or fix. If you’re not very good at cars, you will probably need to memorize the names and the shapes of multiple bits of plastic and metals. Actually, this can be really tedious.

On the other hand, examining a car and having it finally repaired can be pretty satisfying. Just imagine your pleased clients who will have their cars as good as new.

As you’re a mechanic, you mostly repair someone’s cars to earn money. At first, you have to take plain orders that require monotonous actions. But once you leveled up your skills, you can explore garages and junkyards in search of old cars you can repair.

In theory, you can tune and upgrade cars. But in fact, your options are quite limited. For instance, you can’t customize two cars of the same vehicle brand differently – there are just not enough various repair pieces.

Controls — 4/5

The controls are okay, yet they may be inconvenient at first, so you need some time to get used to them. Physics are generally okay, yet it’s not perfect. But is it possible to recreate the real-life physics in a simulator? I believe the answer is obvious.

Also, there is a tutorial mode, but it’s not that clear as you probably want it to be. You may be confused how to do certain things, so it’s trials and errors to some extent. What’s more, the camera isn’t very convenient.

Replay Value — 4.5/5

Replaying the game may be interesting only for hardcore car fans who are ready to spend a dozen of hours on repairing and customizing in-game vehicles. Also, the game has something of economic strategy game, so if you like this genre, you also may be interested in replaying Car Mechanic Simulator 2018.

For others, the game may not seem that challenging and exciting, so playing it once again or not – it’s totally up to you.

Conclusion

Overall, Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 is a game for hardcore fans with infinite patience. The gameplay may be somewhat meditative if you’re really into cars, and tuning, and all that repairing.

Others may find the game to be monotonous, difficult or boring as it certainly lacks some expected features like multiplayer mode. Be it as it may, it’s a great simulator which serves its main purpose.

Conclusion

As a car mechanic simulator, the game is just great. If you want something more, you may be disappointed.
