Take part in the action-packed game called Cuphead and discover a classic from a new angle. As the game is based on the cartoons of the 1930s, you will collide strange worlds, acquire new weapons, explore the hidden secrets and much more. Running, jumping, crouching and almost never releasing the trigger, shooting in eight directions along with the two main characters of the game - the guys with teacups instead of heads. There is a button of a super-shot and a quick leap to the side.
Graphics — 5/5
Developers purposely tried to recreate the visual style of the American animation of the 1930s. And in this sense, they have incredibly succeeded. Cuphead is drawn and animated in such a way that it seems like you are playing an animated cartoon. A wild, but a pretty picture is supplemented by a jazz soundtrack that maximally brings players to the atmosphere of the 1930-s.
Every level of the game is crisp and colorful with intricate details of characters that stand out. The hand-drawn animations and bright watercolor backgrounds make Cuphead an increasingly alluring game.
Gameplay — 4.5/5
Cuphead is a run and shoot game that takes you through multiple levels and vibrant worlds where you shoot your way to the end. The main character deciding to cut down easy money in a casino hit a vast sum and owed the Devil himself. To get out of the situation, the player needs to defeat dangerous creatures that owe the Devil, and then defeat him.
The unexpected appearance of different moving objects causes the complexity. The battle with each "boss" consists of several stages, on every of which you have to fight a new opponent. As you pass further the complexity of the game considerably increases.
During the gameplay, you will meet a lot of funny characters. They, like the heroes of the old cartoons, are terse, but they also have a couple of phrases to remember.
Controls — 5/5
As for the game mechanics, Cuphead is simple and elegant. The player can shoot in eight directions, combine it with jogging and jumping, crouch and make jerks to escape punches or reach the right platforms. Some battles take place in the air: there the hero is transplanted to a cute plane, and the game turns into a traditional shoot-em-up (or cute-em-up).
Replay Value — 5/5
Cuphead is a challenging multiplayer game that involves running and shooting. So there is no surprise that it is currently one of the most addictive games available on the market. As you go through the various levels, the difficulty increases which makes it a lot more interesting. These attributes keep you engulfed in the gameplay. From level one, the game challenges you to put yourself in the game and come out as the best - and defeat the evil bosses.
The MDHR studio got one of the best run 'n gun games. Such qualitative genre games appear once for decades. The only thing that can be said in the accusation of Cuphead: the complexity dissonants with the cute cartoonish appearance of the game. But you will agree, it is much more pleasant to get a complicated game than an easy game.
Cuphead is a unique and fun game that offers more than just a run and shoot experience. With its stunning graphics and intricate plot, it is an overall and complete masterpiece.
